Rexin G

Rexin G is a tumor-targeted gene therapy that uses a retrovector carrying a cytocidal cyclin G1 construct to deliver a therapeutic gene directly into cancer cells. It has been studied against multiple solid tumors, with notable effectiveness reported in chemotherapy-resistant pancreatic cancer, where it was associated with tripled survival times in clinical studies. Rexin G received regulatory approval from the Philippine Food and Drug Administration in 2007 for the treatment of all solid tumors, and it holds an orphan drug designation in the United States, where it completed phase one and two trials and advanced toward phase three trials by 2011. Studies describe it as showing significant anti-tumor activity and increasing both overall survival time and survival rates in most treated patients.
