Trametinib

Antineoplastic and Immunomodulating Agents

Trametinib, sold under the brand name Mekinist, is an anticancer medication used to treat melanoma and glioma. It works as a MEK inhibitor, blocking the MEK1 and MEK2 proteins that relay growth signals inside cancer cells. Taken orally, it received United States approval in May 2013 for patients with V600E mutated metastatic melanoma as a single agent, and European Union approval followed in June 2014. Later approvals extended its use to combination therapies and to glioma treatment through 2024.
