The Maria Sklłodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology is a specialist hospital and research institute of the Polish Ministry of Health, headquartered in Warsaw with regional branches in Gliwice and Krakow. It traces its founding to May 29, 1932, when it opened as the Radium Institute, established through a collaboration between the Polish government and the Nobel laureate Maria Sklłodowska-Curie, for whom it is named. The Warsaw campus today operates as a 741-bed specialist oncology hospital, and the institute as a whole is regarded as Poland's leading center for cancer research and treatment, having expanded over nine decades from its original focus on radium therapy into comprehensive oncological care spanning diagnosis, treatment and clinical research across its three sites.
