Cat bite

Injury, Poisoning and External Causes

Cat bites are bites inflicted on humans, other cats and other animals by the domestic cat, Felis catus. Data from the United States show that cat bites make up between five and fifteen percent of all animal bites inflicted on humans, although the Wikipedia lead notes it has been argued that this figure may reflect under-reporting, because bites made by cats are considered by some to be unimportant. Though uncommon, cat bites can transmit rabies, cause health complications and, in rare cases, lead to death. This entry records what the lead states about the injury and its reach, and is a record of what is held, not medical advice.
