Halal syndrome

Congenital Malformations and Chromosomal Abnormalities

Halal syndrome, also called microcephaly-cleft palate syndrome, is a rare dominantly inherited disorder combining an abnormally small head and a cleft palate with other variable physical anomalies. It was documented in 1983 by Fahed Halal and John M. Opitz, for whom it is named; the surname is unrelated to the Islamic dietary-law concept of the same spelling.
