Mild androgen insensitivity syndrome is a condition in which the body's cells have a mildly impaired ability to respond to androgens. In males the impairment is enough to affect sperm production and the development of secondary sexual characteristics at puberty, though genital differentiation itself is unaffected; because female genital and sexual development is not significantly affected by androgen insensitivity, the diagnosis is made only in males. Its clinical picture is typically a normal male body habitus with a mild defect in sperm production and reduced secondary terminal hair.
