Iridogoniodysgenesis, dominant type, also called type 1 or IRID1, is not a single disease but a spectrum of eye conditions that share one feature: malformation of the irido-corneal angle, the region of the anterior chamber of the eye where the iris meets the cornea. The Wikipedia lead attributes the malformations to abnormal migration or terminal induction of neural crest cells, the embryonic cells that go on to form most of the structures at the front of the eye, namely the corneal stroma and endothelium, the iris stroma and the trabeculum. The condition is therefore a developmental disorder of the anterior segment of the eye. The source lead describes the mechanism and the shared anatomical defect but does not give prevalence, symptoms, inheritance details or treatment, so none are stated here.
