Pilomatricoma

Neoplasms

Pilomatricoma is a benign skin tumor that derives from the hair matrix. These neoplasms are relatively uncommon and typically occur on the scalp, face and upper extremities. Clinically, a pilomatricoma presents as a subcutaneous nodule or cyst with unremarkable overlying epidermis, and the lesion can range in size from about 0.5 to 3.0 centimeters. The largest case reported in the literature measured 24 centimeters.
