Calpainopathy is the most common type of autosomal recessive limb-girdle muscular dystrophy, a group of inherited muscle diseases. It preferentially affects the muscles of the hip girdle and the shoulder girdle. As of 2019 no disease-modifying medicines had been developed for it, although physical therapy, lifestyle modification and orthopedic surgery can address its symptoms. This entry is a short reference record based on the introduction of its source article and is not medical advice.
