The COVID-19 pandemic in Paraguay was the national part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The virus was confirmed in Paraguay on 7 March 2020, in a 32-year-old man living in San Lorenzo, and the first death and first community transmission were confirmed on 20 March 2020. The government suspended classes and gatherings on 10 March, then imposed a total quarantine until 3 May, followed by a gradual smart quarantine and, from October 2020, a looser way of living with COVID. The first vaccine doses, 4,000 of Sputnik V, arrived on 18 February 2021 and went first to frontline medical workers. By February 2022 all restrictions had been lifted.
