Selective aortic arch perfusion is an experimental catheter based treatment for hemorrhage induced traumatic cardiac arrest, in which severe blood loss causes the heart to stop. It delivers perfusion directly to the aortic arch and has been studied in comparison with Zone 1 REBOA, a related balloon occlusion technique, with animal research showing better outcomes for selective aortic arch perfusion once cardiac arrest has already occurred.
