Stridex, originally spelled Stri-Dex, is an American over the counter acne treatment consisting of cotton pads saturated with salicylic acid, at concentrations of 0.5 to 2.5 percent, or benzoyl peroxide at 2.5 percent. The pads were introduced in 1959 by Lehn & Fink as the first non-prescription acne pad on the market, and the brand has been owned by Blistex since 1996, when it acquired the line from Bayer; a Stridex pad is held in the Smithsonian Institution's permanent collection in recognition of its place in the history of dermatological care.
