Eosinophilia is a condition in which the eosinophil count in the peripheral blood exceeds 0.5x10^9 cells per liter. Hypereosinophilia is a further elevation of the circulating blood eosinophil count above 1.5x10^9 cells per liter, and hypereosinophilic syndrome is a sustained elevation above that threshold that is also associated with evidence of eosinophil-based tissue injury.
