Fibrinolysis syndrome

Diseases of the Blood and Immune Mechanism

Fibrinolysis syndrome, also called defibrinating syndrome, is an acute bleeding disorder in which the blood loses its ability to clot, producing massive hemorrhages into the skin that appear as blackish or purplish swellings with tissue sloughing. It results from critically low or absent fibrin, the protein the body needs to form clots.
