The paradoxical emergence of new or more frequent heart-rhythm disturbances brought on by the antiarrhythmic drugs meant to treat them, as well as by some drugs prescribed for unrelated conditions. It reflects a drug's tendency to facilitate new arrhythmias rather than to suppress existing ones.
