Vestibular neuritis is inflammation of the vestibular nerve, one of two related inner ear conditions, alongside labyrinthitis, in which inflammation produces vertigo along with possible hearing loss or tinnitus. It can occur as a single attack, a series of attacks, or a persistent condition that eases over three to six weeks, and may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and abnormal eye movements called nystagmus.
