Otomycosis is a fungal ear infection, a superficial mycotic infection of the outer ear canal caused by fungi, more common in tropical or warm climates. It presents as either a subacute or acute infection marked by itching, foul-smelling discharge, inflammation, scaling, and significant discomfort or ear pain, with debris containing fungal hyphae and suppuration in the canal. Otomycosis can also cause hearing loss.
