Superior canal dehiscence syndrome is one of a category of rare neurotological disorders known as semicircular canal dehiscence (SCD), which affect the superior, lateral, or posterior semicircular ducts of the inner ear. These dehiscences produce syndromes with specific combinations of hearing and balance symptoms, and the superior form is the most commonly described.
