Dermatochalasis

Dermatochalasis is a medical condition defined as an excess of skin in the upper or lower eyelid, a state also described in ordinary speech as baggy eyes. It may be either an acquired condition, developing over a lifetime, or a congenital one that is present from birth. The excess skin can hang over or below the eye and change how the eyelids look. It is generally treated with blepharoplasty, the surgical procedure that removes or repositions surplus eyelid tissue. As a condition of the eyelids it belongs among the disorders of the eye and its adnexa, the structures that surround and support the eye.
