Heel pad syndrome is pain occurring in the center of the heel, most commonly caused by repeated pressure, with obesity as a risk factor. Plantar fasciitis produces similar symptoms and needs to be distinguished from it. Treatment includes rest, pain medication, and heel cups, and the condition becomes more common with age.
