A Baker's cyst, also known as a popliteal cyst, is a fluid collection that forms behind the knee. It often causes no symptoms, but when symptoms do occur they may include swelling and pain behind the knee or knee stiffness; if the cyst ruptures, pain and calf swelling may increase significantly. Rare complications include deep vein thrombosis, peripheral neuropathy, ischemia, or compartment syndrome.
