Laminoplasty is an orthopedic and neurosurgical procedure for treating spinal stenosis by relieving pressure on the spinal cord. The lamina on both sides of the affected vertebra are cut, one fully and one as a hinge, and the resulting flap of bone is swung open and propped in place to enlarge the spinal canal, preserving more bone and muscle than a full laminectomy.
