Hamman's syndrome

Hamman's syndrome, also known as Macklin's syndrome, is a syndrome of spontaneous subcutaneous emphysema and pneumomediastinum, meaning air escapes into the tissue beneath the skin and into the space around the heart and lungs with no obvious external cause. It is sometimes associated with chest pain and, less commonly, with shortness of breath, a change in voice, and a low-grade fever.
