Chest wall oscillation uses devices as a form of airway clearance therapy to clear excess mucus from the airways of the lungs. It is used principally in the treatment of cystic fibrosis, but is gaining use in other diseases in which excessive mucus can block the airways, including bronchiectasis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy.
