Rimonabant is a small molecule medicine that was approved for the treatment of obesity and later withdrawn. ChEMBL records its first approval in 2006, a route by mouth, and a withdrawn flag, and the WHO Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical Index classifies it as A08AX01, among the other antiobesity drugs of the alimentary tract and metabolism group. The approved indication recorded for it is obesity. It is not on the World Health Organization Model List of Essential Medicines, 24th list, from 2025. Acomplia is a brand name under which it was marketed. Its record is a useful example of a medicine that reached approval and was then removed from use.
