Ruth B. Drown

Traditional and Historical Medicine Practitioners

Ruth Beymer Drown (21 October 1891 to 13 March 1965) was an American alternative medicine practitioner, chiropractor and proponent of radionics, born in Colorado. She moved to California in 1918, began practising as a chiropractor in 1922 and built her first radionic machine in 1929, influenced by the devices of Albert Abrams. She claimed that her Drown Radio Therapy and Radio Vision instruments could diagnose disease and cure any patient anywhere from a blood sample. When independently tested the devices and technique were found ineffective, because she could not diagnose illnesses accurately from the blood samples supplied. In 1963 the California State Bureau of Food and Drug Inspection investigated her and she was charged with grand theft, and she died before the case came to trial. The atlas records this as a disputed healing claim, and nothing here is medical advice.
