James Tyler Kent (1849 to 1916) was an American physician best remembered as a forefather of modern homeopathy. In 1897 he published a very large guidebook to human physical and mental disease symptoms and their associated homeopathic preparations, titled Repertory of the Homeopathic Materia Medica, which has been translated into a number of languages. The preparations it lists are described as pseudoscientific. The work became the blueprint for many modern repertories used around the world, and some homeopathic practitioners still use it today. This entry records his place in the history of homeopathy and is not medical advice.
