Vaidyaratnam Triprangode Parameswaran Moossad (1847 to 1919) was an Ayurveda practitioner from Kerala, India, and the first Kerala practitioner to receive the title Vaidyaratna, a distinction the British Raj gave to native medical practitioners. Only three such awards were ever made in Kerala, the later two going to E. T. Narayanan Mooss in 1923 and P. S. Warrier of Kottakkal in 1934; unlike those two, Moossad did not found commercial institutions. He took a leading role in establishing the Keraleeya Ayurveda Samajam, an organization of scholars of the time that aimed to make the benefits of Ayurvedic treatment available to every section of society regardless of caste, creed or religion, and he did so under colonial rule, in a highly caste-driven and poor society, breaking several social barriers. This entry records what he held and did, and is not medical advice.
