Max Linde was an ophthalmologist who lived from 1862 to 1940 and died in Lubeck. The source article says little about his clinical practice and is chiefly concerned with what made him widely known, his work as a patron and art collector in the early twentieth century. He supported the painter Edvard Munch, among others, and assembled the most extensive private collection of sculptures by Auguste Rodin in Germany. In 1903 he commissioned a monumental cast of Rodin The Thinker, and Munch painted that cast in Linde's garden in 1907. His brothers Hermann and Heinrich were painters, and his book Edvard Munch und die Kunst der Zukunft appeared in Berlin in 1902. The record for him as a healer is therefore honest but thin: the page names his medical field and nothing about his methods, patients or discoveries. This entry rests on the Wikipedia article about him.
