Paul Joseph Edmond Carton (12 March 1875 to 20 October 1947) was a French physician, naturopath and practitioner of vegetarianism, born in Meaux and trained at the Ecole de Medecine de Paris. After contracting tuberculosis in 1903 he grew disillusioned with the medical establishment and turned to naturopathy and vegetarianism, which he claimed restored his health. He promoted naturist vegetarianism, a system of abstinence from alcohol, drugs, meat, processed foods, spices and tea, combined with hygiene, gymnastics, hydrotherapy and prayer, and his principles became known as Cartonianism. He ran a sanatorium at Brevannes near Paris, founded the Societe Naturiste Francaise in 1921 and the journal La Revue Naturiste in 1922, and wrote an influential vegetarian cookbook in 1925. He was a Catholic whose medical ideas were influenced by vitalist philosophy. Nothing here is medical advice.
