Alan Stoddard was an English osteopath and vegetarianism activist, born in Hale, Cheshire, in 1915. He qualified at the British School of Osteopathy in 1935, set up a practice at Herne Hill, and later studied medicine at King's College London, qualifying as a doctor in 1942. Holding dual qualifications, he taught at the British School of Osteopathy, worked in the National Health Service for thirty years and kept a private practice in Harley Street, offering a mixture of conventional and osteopathic treatment. He wrote textbooks on osteopathy, and his book The Back: Relief from Pain was translated into eight languages. This entry rests on one encyclopedia article and records only what it states.
