Hakim Syed Khaleefathullah

Hakim Syed Khaleefathullah is an Indian physician of the Unani system of medicine, born in 1938 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, who studied Unani in the traditional way and began practice in Chennai. In 1985 he founded the Niamath Science Academy, a non-governmental organization created in memory of the Unani physician Dr. Hakim Syed Niamathullah to promote Unani medicine. He published several books on the subject and attended international conferences on healing and health in San Francisco, Karachi, Venice and Chicago between 1985 and 1993. He served as honorary physician to the President of India from 1987 to 1991, sits on the governing body of the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine and chairs its clinical research subcommittee, and held a professorship at the Government Unani Medical College in Chennai.
