Bertrand Peter Allinson (1891 to 1975) was an English physician, naturopath and writer, the son of Thomas Allinson and raised a vegetarian. He qualified in medicine at University College Hospital in 1914, served as a captain in the Royal Army Medical Corps and later worked at a hospital for mental and nervous diseases. From 1928 he practised at the Nature Cure Clinic in London, a naturopathic hospital that promoted vegetarianism and opposed vivisection. He opposed vaccination and the use of pharmaceutical drugs, held office in anti-vaccination and anti-vivisection societies, and presided over the London Vegetarian Society from 1922 to 1962. He taught that fasting on fruit juice, a strict vegetarian diet, hydrotherapy and osteopathy could prevent and cure many diseases, including cancer and hypertension; these were his own claims and are not established medicine.
