Ernst Schweninger (1850 to 1924) was a German physician and naturopath. He developed what became known as the Schweninger method, an approach to reducing obesity that relied on restricting the fluids taken in the diet. His name survives chiefly through that method, which belongs to the history of nineteenth and early twentieth century German dietary and naturopathic medicine. The entry describes what the method claimed and who proposed it, as a record of a historical practice, and it is not medical advice or a recommendation to follow the regimen.
