Conversion therapy is the pseudoscientific practice of attempting to change a person's sexual orientation, romantic orientation, gender identity or gender expression to conform to heterosexual and cisgender norms. It has been shown to be ineffective at changing these characteristics and is associated with serious, lasting psychological harm to the people subjected to it. Medical and clinical bodies worldwide do not support conversion therapy as an evidence based treatment and instead recognize homosexuality, bisexuality and gender variance as natural and healthy parts of human identity.
