Chromotherapy

Historical and Premodern Treatment Practice

Chromotherapy, also called color therapy or colorology, is a pseudoscientific alternative medicine practice that claims certain diseases can be treated by exposing a patient to particular colors of light. Practitioners hold that colored light can balance an unmeasurable bodily energy across physical, emotional, spiritual and mental levels, and some have claimed a colored light could cure constipation. The practice has historically been tied to mysticism and occultism, and mainstream medicine regards it as quackery with no demonstrated therapeutic effect.
