Ozone Therapy

Historical and Premodern Treatment Practice

Ozone therapy is an alternative medical treatment that introduces ozone or ozonides into the body. The United States Food and Drug Administration prohibits all medical uses of ozone for any condition lacking proof of safety and effectiveness, stating that ozone is a toxic gas with no known useful medical application in specific, adjunctive or preventive therapy, and that for ozone to act as a germicide it must be present at a concentration far greater than what can be safely tolerated by humans and animals.
