Mount Sinai Hospital is a nonprofit teaching hospital on Manhattan's Upper East Side in New York City, the flagship hospital of the Mount Sinai Health System and, since 1963, the clinical home of what became the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. It was founded in 1852 as The Jews' Hospital in the City of New York by Jewish philanthropists seeking to serve the immigrant community and to give Jewish physicians facing discrimination elsewhere a place to practise, adopted its present name in 1866, and moved to its current location adjacent to Central Park in 1904. The hospital now maintains over one thousand one hundred beds and provides comprehensive adult and pediatric services, including through the Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital and the Mount Sinai Tisch Cancer Center.
