The Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology is a national clinical trials network sponsored by the National Cancer Institute that consists of about 10,000 cancer specialists at hospitals, medical centers and community clinics across the United States and Canada. Its Wikipedia article says it develops and conducts clinical trials of promising new cancer therapies and uses research to develop treatment and prevention strategies, including ways to ease the side effects of cancer care. Its trials cover breast, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, neuro-oncology, respiratory, rare cancer, cancer control and transplant areas. It was formed by merging three legacy groups, ACOSOG, CALGB and NCCTG, with the merger completed in 2014.
