Yale School of Medicine

Yale School of Medicine is the medical school of Yale University, a private research university in New Haven, Connecticut, founded in 1810 as the Medical Institution of Yale College and formally opened in 1813, making it the sixth oldest medical school in the United States. The school employs several thousand faculty members and enrolls well over a thousand students, is closely affiliated with Yale New Haven Hospital and the Yale New Haven Health System, and is highly selective, admitting only a small fraction of the thousands of applicants who apply each year for its MD program. Its campus houses the Harvey Cushing slash John Hay Whitney Medical Library, one of the largest modern medical libraries in the country.
