Duke University School of Medicine

Duke University School of Medicine, commonly called Duke Med, is the medical school of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, established in 1925 by James B. Duke. It is a highly selective private school, admitting roughly one hundred and fifteen students a year out of more than seven thousand five hundred applicants, with about four hundred and fifty students enrolled overall and more than two thousand two hundred faculty members, and it operates within the wider Duke University Health System, an integrated network of hospitals, clinics, and affiliated facilities across the southeastern United States. Its curriculum offers early patient contact and a dedicated research year, and many students pursue joint degrees alongside their MD, including MD-PhD, MBA, and JD programs; U.S. News and World Report ranked the school third among the nation's research medical schools in 2022.
