Gottlieb Conrad Christian Storr was a German physician, chemist and naturalist, born in Stuttgart on 16 June 1749 and died in Tübingen on 27 February 1821. He was the younger brother of the theologian Gottlob Christian Storr. He took his doctorate at the University of Tübingen in 1768, presenting a medical dissertation on viper cures prepared with Ferdinand Christoph Oetinger, and from 1774 to 1801 he served at the same university as a professor of chemistry, botany and natural history. In 1781 he carried out extensive scientific investigations in the Swiss Alps and published the result as the two-volume Alpenreise vom Jahre 1781 between 1784 and 1786. He is also the taxonomic authority for several genera, among them Mellivora, whose only species is the honey badger.
