Dopamine dysregulation syndrome

Dopamine dysregulation syndrome is a rare dysfunction of the brain's reward system observed in some people who have taken dopaminergic medications for an extended length of time. It is marked by severely disinhibited patterns of behavior, leading to problems such as addiction to the medication itself, compulsive gambling, or compulsive sexual behavior, and it typically occurs in people with Parkinson's disease or restless legs syndrome who have taken dopamine agonist medications over an extended period.
