Chondrosarcoma is a bone sarcoma, a primary cancer made up of transformed cells that produce cartilage, and accounts for about 30 percent of bone sarcomas. It resists chemotherapy and radiotherapy, with the mesenchymal subtype a notable exception, and unlike most other primary bone sarcomas, which mainly affect children and adolescents, it can appear at any age and more often affects the axial skeleton than the limbs.
