Carl Heinrich Stratz was a German-Russian gynecologist, born in Odessa in 1858, who was among the first to research human growth and development. He died in The Hague in 1924. A later German study of his work calls him a co-founder of a medical youth science, and later historians of German medicine and of the culture of health and beauty in Germany have discussed him. He has an entry in Isidor Fischer's biographical dictionary of leading physicians. The supporting article is short, so this entry rests on its lead and bibliography.
