Hypofractionated high-dose intensity-modulated radiotherapy is an experimental form of intensity-modulated radiotherapy in which higher X-ray doses are delivered in fewer treatment sessions, a fractionation schedule known as hypofractionated radiotherapy. Although the dose delivered per session is higher than in standard radiotherapy, the total cumulative dose is lower, with the aim of achieving similar treatment effectiveness while causing less toxicity to the patient.
