Combinatorial Ablation and Immunotherapy

Combinatorial ablation and immunotherapy is an oncologic treatment approach that pairs a tumor-ablation technique, such as freezing, radiofrequency, or heat, with an immunotherapy agent. Destroying tumor tissue releases its antigens, which can prompt the immune system to recognize and attack remaining cancer cells, including distant metastases, so the combined approach aims for a systemic effect beyond what local tumor destruction alone would achieve.
