External beam radiation therapy, or EBRT, is a form of radiotherapy that aims a high-energy, collimated beam of ionizing radiation from a source outside the body at cancer cells in order to kill them. The beam is made up of particles focused in a particular direction of travel by collimators, and while each beam is intended to deliver one type of particle, most beams carry some contamination from other particle types as well.
