BEACOPP

BEACOPP is a chemotherapy regimen for treatment of Hodgkin lymphoma, developed by the German Hodgkin Study Group for patients in later stages or with unfavorable early stage risk factors. Patients are typically treated in cycles of twenty one days, with a more intensive fourteen day cycle variant also in use, and a full course usually consists of four to eight cycles, sometimes combined with ABVD. Adoption varies by country: some treat it as standard therapy, while in the United States ABVD is generally used instead out of concern that BEACOPP causes more secondary cancers, although trial results have found no overall difference in treatment related mortality or secondary malignancies between the two regimens.
