Chemosensitivity Assay

Oncologic Therapy

A chemosensitivity assay is a laboratory test that measures how many tumor cells are killed by a given chemotherapy agent, performed after the tumor cells have been removed from the body. Because dozens of chemotherapy agents and hundreds of possible combinations exist, oncologists often choose a treatment regimen from standard protocols developed in clinical trials, and a chemosensitivity assay can help select the most effective drug or drugs for the specific cancer being treated.
